Stocking stuffer ideas!

Hey guys! Sorry I keep slackin on getting out posts from me. I surprisingly have been unmotivated lately. I am already sick of my fake nails too. Thinking about taking them off here soon. I was going to do a paint post tonight, but I just rocked my 1 year old to sleep and it made me tired, so I decided to talk to you about some sweet stocking stuff ideas for Christmas that I seen at Meijer!!

Every year at Christmas time Meijer gets a really cool stocking stuff area in their Christmas section. Its just a whole aisle of little things that work as cool, cheap, lil stocking stuffers/gift ideas. I was browsing the area the other day while shopping and came across some really cute polishes and nail stuff. They had this Blue Cross Beauty Care Winter Wonderland Ornaments Holiday Glitter Collection and this Sally Hansen Happy Manicures Insta Dri pack. Each were only $4.99! The Winter Wonderland collection are almost full size bottles of polish, and the Sally Hansen ones are not too much smaller than that! What a deal! Not only did they have these, but they also had some really cute little snowman bottles of polish, cute packs of emery boards, cute packs of those lil toe separater things, manicure sets, etc... Among the other great non nail related gifts. I am definitely going back and scooping up some more stuff very soon!!

This pic doesn't do them justice, they're all glitter polishes and they're all pretty sweet looking! They all seem to be thick one coat colors, but I haven't tried them yet, so I am not entirely sure. The pink and red are color and glitter. The 3 middle polishes are just clear polish with chunky glitters. I am going to do a separate post using the colors another time. I am not sure if this brand is cruelty free or not. I did try to call them and got no answer and couldn't find an email. I will try again to call and confirm it before I do the second post.

Ok, so these aren't really Christmas type colors, but look at how awesome they are! I am all for bright colors and I just couldn't pass this up, especially since they're insta dri! Fast drying nail polish is my friend. Its so hard to paint your nails when you have little kids running around all the time!

Don't have any stockings to stuff? Pick them up for yourself, grab them for coworkers, your kids teacher, little girls that you have to buy for. There really isn't that many people I know of that don't like nail polish.

Sorry to cut this kinda short, but I am falling asleep over here. haha I will be posting again soon, possibly tomorrow, so stay tuned for that!

Hope you enjoyed my post! Merry Christmas!

Red

Hi there!

So, I was contemplating starting Christmas manicures but I don’t know if I am ready for that just yet. Christmas is slowly growing on me, and I feel like I shouldn’t throw myself at it just yet before Christmas. Its kiiiinda Christmassy but not like bam Christmas!  Just red nail polish with a tip of clear glitter, Yay I love glitter!

I used  Zoya- Gia for the red. Zoya is a relatively new brand to me. I heard about them when I started following nail blogs. I learned that they are vegan and 3 free and definitely cruelty free. I had never used a polish like this and I wasn't sure how it would be. I really LOVE it. Its such a nice formula and it goes on really nice and smooth. Even with my gloves at work it lasts just as long as any other brand I've used.  Their website is really neat and when you purchase a polish you can get points and trade them in. They have tons of super awesome colors. You should really join their website! They are so good to their members and it's free!

For the glitter tip I used LA Colors. It doesn't have a name. but I got it in a glitter pack of LA Color glitters.

And here's the finished nails! Really simple but really pretty I think. I hope you like! Thanks for reading!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi there :)

Happy Thanksgiving! My family doesn't do Turkey for dinner for Thanksgiving, since really only my parents eat meat. Today we went to my moms house for brunch... OMG. I didn't even eat yesterday cuz I knew I was going to eat soo much today. And I did. I told my mom if I was poked in the stomach I might just pop! She made some french toast bake, banana nut muffins, banana cake, crepes, macaroni and cheese and some mashed potato bake thing some appetizers too. Holy cow, I ate too much! I truly am grateful everyday for everyone in my life and everything that I have! I hope today that you had the chance to see your family and have a truly special day! Are you participating in any Black Friday deals? I won't be shopping at any big box stores tomorrow, I am hoping to take advantage of some etsy deals that some people are having, but mostly everyone will be getting something home made from me! I hope that this year for the Holidays that you will shop at local and small shops! I really cannot stress enough, if you think the economy is bad, support local, support small!!  If you are going out tonight to the big box stores, please be safe and courteous.

I will try to post all the etsy nail deals I hear about on our facebook page tonight before I go to sleep so you can all get in on the deals ! We also want to do a give away when our facebook gets to 50 likes. Its kind of a Christmas/Holiday giveaway so like us quick!!

Let me show you my Thanksgiving day mani! I used China Glaze- Harvest Moon from the Hunger Games Collection (I got it at Sally's a few months ago on clearance for like $1 and I was so excited! I wish they would have had more colors but I was way late to the party!) and Wet n Wild fast dry- 9021 orange. I thought they both went together very well and they were very nice thanksgiving colors.

I did alternating nails with each color. I had thought about doing just an accent nail but I really liked both the colors and I wanted more than just one nail of each color. I really really love the Harvest Moon color. More than I thought I would.

Thanks for reading! I hope you like them! Happy Thanksgiving!

Gobble Gobble Gobble...

It is really weird for me to think that this time last year I was praying to God that I didn't have my son Elijah before Thanksgiving. If you have a baby, you have to poo before you can eat and I was not about to miss out on some feasting over a poo. haha

Decided to give Thanksgiving themed nails another try, last ones didn't turn out so well for me. I went and got myself another Pure Ice polish and went outside the norm for me and bought a brown color. I think its gorgeous, I just don't normally wear browns. I got Magic, its a coppery brown, and to me, a perfect Thanksgiving color.

First used a clear base coat, then did 1 good coat of this Magic. I think it looks really good on long nails!

After that, I decided to go back again and try Sinful Colors All About You again, since it didn't work so well for me the last post I did here. It has a few Thanksgiving shades to it, and it's just so pretty that I wanted to use it!!

So I did 1 good coat of it, but only did  a slant tip on each nail. Decided to skip out on an accent nail which I have been doing a lot lately.

Can I also just say, that last nail post that I did... I learned a good lesson from. Don't use glitter on fake nails. Non acetone remover really sucks to try to take off glitter. My acetone that I normally use would have probably taken it off in one swipe. I probably used more cotton balls on 1 glitter nail than I did on all my fingers combined! It was horrible! lol Totally worth it though I suppose, because it looked pretty hot I think, and I kept getting compliments on them.

Anyways, I hope that everyone enjoys their Thanksgivings and you all remember the right things to be thankful for. Please be safe if you go out to Black Friday sales. Also, if you are going to shop, try to stay with local shops, or small businesses!

Also, this picture before its funny, but sad yet true.

Thanks for reading guys! Don't forget to like us on Facebook. When we get to 50 page likes we will be doing a giveaway, so spread the word!!

Take me to your leader

Greetings Earthlings!

I come in peace!

Do you believe in aliens? I do! Sometimes I think my brother might be one lolol. But really, I do believe in aliens! I love everything about Outer Space; I think it really is just so neat and amazing! If I ever had the money, I would so fly to space… Until that time comes, I will bring space to me.

Aliens!

I got my first Indie polish!! Omg I am/was so excited I couldn’t wait to put it on!

The creator of the polish is My Ten Friends. The polishes are 3 free which means there are no: Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde and Toluene. They are cruelty free!!! They cost 8.88$ each which I really thought was a good price, especially when you think about how much an OPI or Essie is, and here, you are supporting a real person who hand made your polish! I encourage everyone to buy Christmas gifts from local and small businesses this year! Especially those who think the economy needs to get better... which I think is just about everyone...

So when I was picking my color I was really torn between two polishes, if I could have, I would have bought them both or even all if I could! Man, they are all really neat!

The one I chose is called Alien Invasion and it reminds me of the show Dexter and Christmas, and since it is close to Christmas I thought it would be a good pick! When I bought it there was a memo thing saying it was at a week delay and I was like waaaaa I don’t wanna wait I’m too excited! But it didn’t even take a week! I got it in the mail on Thursday Nov 15th when I got home from work and I had just ordered it on the 10th. Talk about super-fast service!

As soon as I got home I tore open the box, I just wanted to hold it in my hand and look at it! There was a really neat fish fortune teller (my fortune said I was in love, hubby’s fortune said he was indifferent),  a really neat business card, and my sweet, beautiful, nail polish! I took my polish off and thought quickly about painting my nails but changed my mind because it was 10 at night and I didn’t know how long it would take to dry.

At first I just did one coat and I thought it looked fine, but I like to do two coats usually with all polish just to make sure its to its full potential!

When I was finished with my coats and they were dry, I thought it would be really neat and alien-ey to do a glow top coat over them. Unfortunately my camera wouldn't register my glow in the dark, or take a picture in the dark. I used wet n wild- fantasy makers- Go with the Glow!

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed!

Red and Gold

Ok, so tonight I only had one of my two children home and decided that I would try to do a post while the Elijah was still awake. He's going to be 1 on December 1st. I thought since he was fed, changed, and keeping himself entertained with his toys and Yo Gabba Gabba that I would be able to do it. Boy was I wrong. lol The second I got everything all out and was starting to paint I think he realized and was like "Oooh, I'm going to go bug mama." This is how it started out.

He kept pulling himself up on my lil table and was grabbing all the colors I had out!

Finally I got him down and occupied with something else, when suddenly mama turned away and gave him the prime opportunity to strike again.

He was trying to be stealthy about it. Lil stinker!

Anyways, I couldn't decide really what I wanted to do, so I had all kinds of stuff out trying to decide. I think I took off nail polish about 4 times before I decided. I was having all kinds of issues tonight while painting. After Elijah went to bed I was trying out one of my magnetic polishes and I ended up pressing the magnet into it, and it didn't turn out how I wanted, so I was gonna take it off. Before I could, I bumped my table and the bottle went flying and it spilled on everything. I got it all over my hand, my camera bag, my nail polish box, my carpet. lol

After those couple mishaps, I tried to actually do something to my nails. I started out with a base coat, and then used Sally Hansen: Hard as Nails "Unbreakable Heart" #470. I forgot to take pics of my nails just like that. Then I decided to do like a half slant thing with this really pretty Thanksgiving gold as I like to call it. Its Sinful Colors: "All about you" #921. Its gold with a slight hint of red in it and its really beautiful! Then for the accent nail I wanted to do full on gold sparkle, so I used Milani: Jewel FX "Gold" #531. Here is the result on my left hand.

I painted that hand and wasn't sure if I liked it or not, so I decided to change it up a little bit on my right hand. I was going to do the "All About You" where the "Unbreakable Heart" is and then obviously the "Unbreakable Heart" where the "All About You" is, but as I started to paint my nails Elijah woke up. So with wet nails I got him up and changed him and made him a bottle, in the process screwing up my nails.

It was all over the place, I had it down the sides of my fingers and everything. So I decided that I was just going to scratch the whole idea and try something else. So instead I went with Essie: "Scarlet O'Hara" for all my nails (yea I know Essie isn't cruelty free, but its one of those colors I had and LOVE. It's one of my favorite reds EVER!) I stuck with the Milani: Jewel FX "Gold" #531 for the accent nail. Finished off my nails with a top coat and called it good.

Don't mind the nail polish stuff in my hand... haha looks like poo.

All of the problems I was having tonight I was wondering if I should have even painted them. lol I really did want to do a Thanksgiving theme, but I kinda gave up. Can I just say though, I am glad I did what I did because I am really LOVING this accent nail. That gold just shines like no other and is fantastic! It really did make me sad to take off the awesome nail art that I had on my nails before this, but its really fun having long nails to paint!

Hope that you guys enjoyed my post and I might be trying to get in one more post before Thanksgiving, but in case I don't get a chance, I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and want to tell everyone to be safe on Black Friday and to try to keep lots of your shopping with local businesses if you can!

xoxo Leah

I need a refresh-mint

Hi there :)

How yall doin?

So, I had another neato blog post written up but I decided to wait on that one and post it when I am 100% sure that the company does not test on animals.. I emailed them like a week ago and still have not heard anything back from them. >:( I really hope I hear something soon!

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are always my days off, on Tuesdays I like to catch up on cleaning and do some baking, and paint my nails!! Today I made English muffin bread! Wow! It is really good! It took a lot longer to make and get ready than I had thought so I thought I wasn't going to be able to paint my nails today. But I made time and I just did them! I couldn't decided on a color so I asked hubby for some advice and he chose this light teal- minty color from Wet n Wild Megalast collection called 218A I Need A Refresh-Mint. I really love this color and I have a few colors similar to it in other brands! I haven't tried the wet n wild color so I am really glad he picked it! It's a light color so I did 3 coats just so it would be nice and poppin.

I also added some glitter on top of course. Wet n Wild Fast Dry brand- Bling it on! This is from a new collection. A Holiday collection I think. Hubby got me 2 colors yesterday when he went to the store because I texted him and told him I was having a really terrble day at work. It really made my night way better !

Sunday when I got home from work I started to crochet a nail polish bottle. I finished it last night when I got home. I think it is so cute ! I want to make more in more colors! It's a really fun and quick project. woo! two of my favorite things!

Puddin wants her nails painted! Wouldn't these make cute gifts to your pets?????? omg ! Yes! Put some cat nip in there or make it a little bigger and put a squeeker in it for the dog!

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed!

Dollar Store Awesomeness!

I am all about inexpensive nail polish that is good, so when Panacea told me about Dollar Tree having some good stuff, I had to check it out. And i'm glad I did!

I went in there thinking I was only going to see the L.A. Colors that Pan told me about, and that it was going to be some like ugly colors that nobody wants and that was it. I was happy to see that it was quite the opposite. They had all kinds of awesome colors! The best part is, L.A. Colors is cruelty free! Not to mention, Dollar Tree also had some other nail goodies which I was quite surprised about!

I have been wanting to try some of the glitters, foils, and beads because I have never tried them before, and when I seen that they had some I was so excited!! They aren't L.A. Colors, the brand is something I've never heard of called Donna Michelle Salon Basics. I tried to look up information about them online to see if they were a cruelty tree company as well, but I couldn't even find anything about them. I sent a message to Dollar Tree a few days ago, but I haven't gotten a response yet, but I will be sure to update everyone when I know. The gold glitter is by Diamond Cosmetics and I spoke to someone from their company and they assured me that all their products are cruelty free! How exciting!!

So anyways, I decided to just stick with a simple design that would go with my costume for our after Halloween party. I went as Callie Torres from Grey's Anatomy. I wanted to do something flashy because it was a party. I decided to only use the Dollar Tree finds because the only colors I bought were glitters! lol

I started off by doing a thick coat of the Sassy Sparkle 652. It is very pretty and doing a thick coat of it seemed to work pretty good for being a clearish glitter. Usually you have to do a few coats to get it thick enough like I have it. Oh no wait, I lied, I started off with the Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Hardener. lol

Then I wanted to just stick with a simple design and used the Treasure Island 653 on the tips. Once again, a thick coat of that seemed to get the job done, but I did end up going over it one more time just to make the color stand out more.

Finished it off with a top coat of Super Dry by Diamond Cosmetics.

They both look really awesome and the glitter really pops when the light hits it. I admit, I was a little skeptical about getting dollar store polish because I have bought dollar store stuff before and it really wasn't great, but this stuff is awesome!

Since I wanted to keep it simple I didn't get a chance to try out the other nail art stuff I bought, but I plan to pretty soon since I went shopping with my mom yesterday and decided to get some acrylic nails put on! Next I want to work on some good brushes so I can try to learn to do things like this!! I don't normally like getting fake nails because I have thin nails and they really get bad when I take them off, but I was really wanting to have long nails to paint and do fun things with, so I will be trying out some stuff once I am over the nail art I have on now. Also, the nail people don't have any regard for sores and things on your fingers. I have a crack in my thumb from my skin being so dry (i'm slightly ocd about hand washing) and the lady dug her nail right into the crack. I almost punched her and almost started to cry.

Anyways, hope everyone enjoyed my blog, sorry it was so long and kinda on the boring side. I will try to make the next one more exciting! haha Thanks for reading! Have a great day!!

xoxoLeah

Here is a pic of me in my costume. Sadly, I got my acrylic nails put on before the party, so I didn't get to wear my awesome dollar store nails with my costume.

My husband was a Jager Bomber and I was Callie Torres from Grey's Anatomy.
