Leah's Collection

Happy New Year everyone!!

So I recently went to put my new Christmas polishes that I got into the box that I keep my nail polishes in and realized they're starting to not fit anymore. Not to mention the $40 I just spent at the Julep end of the year sale which I haven't received yet. All these polishes except for about 3 I have acquired in 2 years, but mostly in the last year. We moved about 2 and a half years ago and I wasn't all that into polish at the time like I am now, so I put a bunch of it in storage. I have no idea where that box is now, not to mention they're probably all broken/exploded from the heat/cold changes. That makes me very sad, and I wish I would have kept them all out of storage, but at least I got a new collection going for me now!

This is the case I currently use. I was being lazy and didn't want to get my camera out again so I took a screenshot of the case on the Caboodles website. Its a great case, has shelves for other stuff like brushes, files, etc... Currently all my polishes fit in it, and I have a lot.

That is the top view of my current polishes that aren't in storage. You can't really tell from this pic, but I have an obsession with sparkly and glittery nail polishes! lol I have been trying to branch out from pinks too with my new collection of colors. My old collection was mostly pinks cuz its one of my favorite colors, but I seem to be leaning towards blues this time, haha.

To be honest, I am not really sure why I am doing a post about my collection of polishes, but I would really love to see pics of everyone elses collections!! Nail polish is one of my favorite things, and I love to share it! Panacea and I were talking about how we like to mention how we want to see certain things that you other ladies do, and we have yet to see anything from anyone! Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

First I just want to say whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or another holiday, I hope that you have a wonderful holiday and wonderful memories with your families!

Happy Holidays from us ladies at My Nail Polish Is Poppin'!

Alright, so down to business. My parents decided to take my kids for the night, so I got a chance to do my nails again!! WOO!

I recently participated in a secret Santa event with one of the Facebook nail polish swap groups I am in. The gift had to be between $5 and $15. My secret Santa sent me some supplies that she sells in her Etsy store which can be found HERE! I received a packet of Christmas colored glitter, some copper colored striping tape, some tiny gems, also some snowflake earrings! I had never tried striping tape before, so I was really excited to get it because I've been really wanting to try it! So today being Christmas Eve I wanted to do one more Christmas nail and try the striping tape out.

Started out with a base coat of clear, then used Sinful Colors: Show me the way. I thought because it looks so thick and dark in the bottle that it would go on that way. One coat and you could still see my nail, so I put a few coats.

After that I wanted to add sparkle because I'm obsessed with glitter. I think the ratio of solids to glitters in my collection of polishes is definitely in favor of the glitter. Anyways... I used Sinful Colors: Call you later. OMG its such a beautiful green glitter!

It's kinda hard to see in this picture. I wasn't sure how to use the striping tape, so I looked up a few different ways to use it. Decided to just lay it over top of glitter. I laid the strips in all different directions for each nail.  Then for the accent nail I wanted to do something different and originally had tried to the other striping tape technique I had discovered, but it didn't turn out so well. I tried to lay the tape down, then paint over it with red so the sparkly green showed thru, but I don't think I let things dry correctly, so I gave up on that idea.

For the accent nail I just decided to it with Milani's 23A Ruby Jewels. I keep using this color because I just love it so much. It's probably my favorite red glitter polish that I have. It goes on perfect and its just gorgeous! Finished off with a top coat to help seal in the strips.

Took this pic yesterday of my 3 year old. He has so much emotion, he cracks me up!

Hope that everyone enjoyed this post! Have a wonderful day!!

xoxoLeah

PS. Decided to do my toe nails too. Used Milani: 23A Ruby Jewels and Essie's Beyond Cozy! Thought they looked pretty awesome. Don't mind my ugly feet though! haha

Red and Gold

Ok, so tonight I only had one of my two children home and decided that I would try to do a post while the Elijah was still awake. He's going to be 1 on December 1st. I thought since he was fed, changed, and keeping himself entertained with his toys and Yo Gabba Gabba that I would be able to do it. Boy was I wrong. lol The second I got everything all out and was starting to paint I think he realized and was like "Oooh, I'm going to go bug mama." This is how it started out.

He kept pulling himself up on my lil table and was grabbing all the colors I had out!

Finally I got him down and occupied with something else, when suddenly mama turned away and gave him the prime opportunity to strike again.

He was trying to be stealthy about it. Lil stinker!

Anyways, I couldn't decide really what I wanted to do, so I had all kinds of stuff out trying to decide. I think I took off nail polish about 4 times before I decided. I was having all kinds of issues tonight while painting. After Elijah went to bed I was trying out one of my magnetic polishes and I ended up pressing the magnet into it, and it didn't turn out how I wanted, so I was gonna take it off. Before I could, I bumped my table and the bottle went flying and it spilled on everything. I got it all over my hand, my camera bag, my nail polish box, my carpet. lol

After those couple mishaps, I tried to actually do something to my nails. I started out with a base coat, and then used Sally Hansen: Hard as Nails "Unbreakable Heart" #470. I forgot to take pics of my nails just like that. Then I decided to do like a half slant thing with this really pretty Thanksgiving gold as I like to call it. Its Sinful Colors: "All about you" #921. Its gold with a slight hint of red in it and its really beautiful! Then for the accent nail I wanted to do full on gold sparkle, so I used Milani: Jewel FX "Gold" #531. Here is the result on my left hand.

I painted that hand and wasn't sure if I liked it or not, so I decided to change it up a little bit on my right hand. I was going to do the "All About You" where the "Unbreakable Heart" is and then obviously the "Unbreakable Heart" where the "All About You" is, but as I started to paint my nails Elijah woke up. So with wet nails I got him up and changed him and made him a bottle, in the process screwing up my nails.

It was all over the place, I had it down the sides of my fingers and everything. So I decided that I was just going to scratch the whole idea and try something else. So instead I went with Essie: "Scarlet O'Hara" for all my nails (yea I know Essie isn't cruelty free, but its one of those colors I had and LOVE. It's one of my favorite reds EVER!) I stuck with the Milani: Jewel FX "Gold" #531 for the accent nail. Finished off my nails with a top coat and called it good.

Don't mind the nail polish stuff in my hand... haha looks like poo.

All of the problems I was having tonight I was wondering if I should have even painted them. lol I really did want to do a Thanksgiving theme, but I kinda gave up. Can I just say though, I am glad I did what I did because I am really LOVING this accent nail. That gold just shines like no other and is fantastic! It really did make me sad to take off the awesome nail art that I had on my nails before this, but its really fun having long nails to paint!

Hope that you guys enjoyed my post and I might be trying to get in one more post before Thanksgiving, but in case I don't get a chance, I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and want to tell everyone to be safe on Black Friday and to try to keep lots of your shopping with local businesses if you can!
