Happy Birthday to me!!

Ok, so my birthday isn't actually until the 11th, but since I am doing my posts on Tuesdays and Saturdays, I figured I would just do my birthday mani post today!

Last Saturday (the 7th) my hubby thought he was planning a surprise birthday party for me. Well he told me awhile ago that I could get on his facebook anytime I needed to and send myself game requests. So I got on his facebook a few days after he made a fake event page for my birthday making me think we were having a birthday party on the 12th, and I noticed when I typed in my name in the search that there was "Leah's Birthday Party" and "Leah's Party." I was so confused. Since he had different pics for both, I realized one of them I hadn't seen before and not even thinking it would be a surprise party, I clicked on it. I felt like an a-hole instantly. I was like well dang, I can't just pretend to be surprised, so I gotta make this into something awesome. My husbands birthday is April 30th and I thought, well why don't I turn it around on him!

I went along with all of his plans, didn't question things that normally I would question and so forth. He had two of my friends helping him with the plans, so when one of them took me out to eat I let her in on my plans. I explained that I knew about the party and she said she had a feeling I was going to find out. My husband is terrible at keeping secrets btw. lol So I told her that we needed to make this real good! I told her, "make sure that you let him give you control of the cake plans." He did of course and so she ordered a cake and had them write "Happy Birthday Tyler, gotcha!" on a cookie cake.

He had told Ariel to make sure that everyone was in my kids bedroom and that he was going to find a way to get me in there to be surprised. So I told her, make sure they're all in the kitchen and I will get him to go in there!

When we got home from the movies, he walked over by the bedroom to see if he could see if there were in there yet, but he couldn't tell cuz the door was shut. So I walked into the kitchen while he was doing that and was like ok evereyone, get ready, he's coming! lol Then as I walked out, he went in. He noticed them but acted like he didn't and as he went to walk away they flipped the light on and were like "SURPRISE!" He turned around and looked at me like "Oh crap, they surprised the wrong person!" I just laughed and they started to sing happy birthday to him! So I said "go read the cake!" lol He was like "DAMMIT!!" I was like "Yea, I knew a few days after you posted the event pages on facebook. He laughed and was like "Damn, I really thought that I had you so good!" Haha and I could tell that he thought he really had me good. It was real hard for me to not laugh so many times when he said stuff about that day and my 'other party.' lol

I had gotten him real good last year too, and he was completely surprised! So thats the reason he tried to get me this year, but it didn't work! lol

So anyways, here is the mani I did for my birthday party! I tried this technique that I seen somewhere else, but I didn't do it as good. From a distance they look much better! haha but I still really loved them cuz I love lots of colors!!

First I will show you how I did them!

The pinky didn't turn out as well as the rest, but I had forgotten to take progress pics until I got to that nail! lol

Basically though, you just start with a base coat, then dab different colors across your nails in different strokes and do different amounts of polish for different colors!

Finished off my accent nail with some gems and a special custom glitter that Sparkle-Factor-Lacquer when I ordered one of her other polishes from her! She sent it to me as a birthday gift and its so special that she only made enough for this bottle and doesn't have the way she made it written down! It made me feel so special!

This is sloppy, lol but I didn't want to redo them.

Hope you guys enjoyed this! xoLeah

Good Bud-dy & Cosmos-politan

Hi there :)

So I've really been attracted to bright nail polishes lately. I am really looking forward to this summer. Not for any particular reason because I'm not going anywhere or anything but I will be starting classes back up and I am really looking forward to that. I've been missing school. I also love to swim. We used to have a pool growing up but my parents actually just got rid of their pool last summer. waa :( .

I wanted to do something bright but not super bright. I sat and looked at my nail polish for like 15 minutes trying decided how bright I wanted to go, what colors I wanted to use and so on and so forth. Finally I decided on Flower - Good Bud-dy and Cosmos-politan. I get that these are both a play on words but I am not entirely sure if good bud-dy is a play off the words that I am thinking... I'd love to know. I am really a huge fan of this brand of polish. I love the application and the colors are really gorgeous.

I used cosmos-politan as the base. I really love this pink. Its bright but its not like in-yo-face bright pink. Just bright enough for what I was wanting.

I used good bud-dy just as a tip. I just wanted something simple and easy because I had like an hour before I had to go to work.

I liked this a lot but the tips are super sloppy. Even though I didn't have a ton of time I could have done those way nicer. Leah told me about some tip thingies she has. I think I am going to invest in some of them.

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy!

Easter Nail Challenge

I know Easter is done and over with, but I wanted to share with you guys the nails that I did for the Easter Nail Challenge that Galactic Lacquer had for Easter!!

It was really fun and exciting for me to do because I had never done a nail art challenge before!

The first day was grass/flowers. I tried to use mostly sparkly polishes because I thought that would be fun, but I had a hard time taking pics because the grass and sky was blending together. I think they turned out cute though! I did multiple pics for this one when I shared it because of the problems taking pics.

Second day was bunnies!! This was my favorite mani for the whole challenge! I didn't want to take my bunines off, but then started to peel off the next day. :(

Third day was Easter eggs, and since I had already done Easter eggs for my Easter mani, I decided to just use that picture for it! :D

The fourth day was chicks. I didn't know what to do for this one, so I looked up some pics on google for inspiration! lol I thought they turned out ok, but I probably could have done better! Still cute though I think!

The fifth and final day was pastels. This was most difficult for me because I didn't really have a lot of pastels to go with and I was trying not to use colors from my Easter mani, but I ended up using a few of them. Then when I was taking pics they were turning out looking darker than they looked in person. It was frustrating!

Did anyone else do this challenge? What was your favorite one to do if you did do it?

Hope everyone had a great weekend and sorry I didn't post this yesterday like I normally do, but I had a reverse surprise party for my husband! lol I will explain what I mean by that on my birthday post tuesday!! Have a great week!! xoxoLeah

Squatter, Sprog and cornwall

Hi there :)

A few weeks ago Ulta was having the 21 days of beauty deals in their stores ( if you are not on the email list or the reward membership they have, seriously you should sign up. It's free and they send awesome coupons and stuff all the time! ) and during that promotion they had butter LONDON polishes for $9 each.. They are normally $15 and for $15 it's a little out of my budget, $9 is still high but a little better. They do have a few colors I have been eying.. During the promotion I got squatter and sprog. I love them both and am glad I got them.  This is a really nice spring weather summoning mani! Hopefully spring weather will get the hint with all the bright manis. ;)

A few weeks ago hubby got off work like 4 hours before I did and had to wait until I got off work so he walked to the mall by his work. He saw this funky nail polish and thought I would love it so he got it for me. He knows me so well. It is supposed to look and feel like feathers! In my real life I am afraid of birds and have never actually felt feathers but I assume this is pretty close. Its  so cool! I really do love it! It also looked really good over Sprog. It's called Cornwall - Feathers by the brand Nails Inc. On my pointer I have 3 coats, on my ring I have 2 coats and my pinkie I have one coat over sprog. On my thumb I have 3 coats of only Cornwall.

Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoy!

Eggs in a basket & Flutter Byes

Hi there :)

I hope that everyone that celebrates had a great holiday!

I'd like to show you two super pretty pastel nail polishes. It's the Spring Duo by LynBDesigns and the polishes are Eggs in a Basket & Flutter Byes. I think it would have been super duper cute if she made this also in a mini set for Easter. How cute would that be for Easter baskets?!?

Eggs in a Basket  is a perfect spring pink cream polish with tons of round glitters in springy colors. The glitter colors are light & dark pink, yellow, light green and light blue. I seriously loved this color, and it was so perfect for Easter. The pictures have 2 coats of polish with top coat. The first coat was super light and thin so 2 coats are pretty much absolute but 3 coats wouldn't hurt either.

Flutter Byes is a gorgeous springy sky blue cream polish with little blue, pink and purple butterfly glitters. The first coat is really super light but for me the second coat went on really thick. These pictures have 2 coats of polish with a top coat. The butterflies are so cute, it looks like they are flying on a clear spring day.

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoy!
