Happy Independence Day

I know I am a day late, but I wanted to wait to show you guys this post so that I could put firework pictures in it too!! Going to be a short one, but pic heavy. So be warned! lol

I have been really lazy with my nails lately, especially when it comes to nail art. So I decided to go big for the 4th.

I used Color Club's French Tip for the white. KleanColor Metallic Red for the red, and Finger Paints Surfs Up for the blue. The red, white, and blue glitter on my ring finger is Hard Candy's Soda Pop. I used stripping tape to do the lines, and a pack of star gems I got from a friend on Reddit. I had so much fun doing this mani and I love it so much. This is probably my favorite mani I have done so far!

I was so sad though that some of it bled and smudged when I put on my top coat, but I loved it anyways and got lots of compliments on it!

Black Holos

Hello lovees!

Today I am going to show you two really awesome black holos that I got recently. The first one is The Symbiote by Chirality. The second is The Beyond by Color Club. I love both of them because they're both black holos, but look so different! Color Club is one of my favorite brands and Chirality is a new brand to me. I have heard of it before, but this is my first time using/owning any. I got The Symbiote from Jen from Jen's Nail Files. We found out awhile ago that we live 5 minutes from each other, so when she had a bunch of holos for sale, I couldnt resist because holos are my FAVE!! Beyond I got from my new friend in my Adopt A Friend group that does nail polish exchanges. I think The Symbiote is my favorite of the two though just because its a darker black, but like I said, they're both great!! Its funny how you can have practically the same polish, but they look so different. They're both great formulas and go on very nice. They both stayed on great for the week or so that I wore each one!

MANicure

So I have been wanting to have my husband do my nails for awhile, but kept putting it off. Then I was on Reddit one day in one of the polish groups I am in called Polish Gauntlet and they had a scavenger hunt style contest going on where one of the things you had to do for it was have your significant other put makeup on you. I don't really wear makeup much these days, so I asked if I could have him do my nails with nail art and they agreed.

When I was thinking about him doing my nails, I really had the expectation that it would be really good and some awesome nail art better than I could do. He has done art in college and high school and he can draw pretty good too, so I thought it would be awesome.

First he started doing my nails just trying to lay down a base coat of Almost Famous from Color Club and was having such a hard time that I knew it was going to go nowhere near as I had thought in my head. lol He ended up starting over.

So then he decided to go with Chelsea Girl from Color Club. Took him awhile to do a base coat. He kept getting so frustrated and saying how hard this actually is to do. He thought it would be easy too. So after much frustration and almost giving up he decided to just do something simple, which for him was actually still even difficult.

So he ended up doing a base coat of Chelsea Girl from Color Club and stripes of Almost Famous from Color Club. He only did one hand too because of the difficulty. It took him about an hour to do it. lol He was having a hard time getting his paint job opaque.

Nail Fail

Hello beautiful!

So last night I was painting my nails for my post today............ It was a big disappointment. lol I was inspired by two different posts I seen in Lacquer Lane, a new group I am in. Formerly The Polish Swap and Nail Polish Lovers International. They merged. Anyways, Kellie, one of the admins, and friend of mine, had posted a bunch of things in there for inspiration. There were a few I liked, but one in particular that inspired me. A few days later I seen that a girl named Jennifer D. had done the same mani so I was like really inspired to do it. It was a butterfly wing mani. 

I just got those I <3 Nail Art pens from Sally Hansen, so I was like I can use the black one for this! Well it didn't work so well. I don't have patience for one, so I smudged a bunch of it, plus I shouldn't have used the nail art pen to do the tips. So I gave up after trying on two nails and decided to try other designs. I screwed up the whole mani and it looked terrible. Btw, I used the Color Club Take Wing collection for the base, minus Metamorphosis. I used Wing Fling, Sparkle & Soar, Sky High, Fly With Me, and Daisy Does It.

I guess in these pics, the butterfly wings don't look all that bad, but in person, they were horrendous! They were all lumpy and messy!

Then I thought, what if I add a glitter top coat, maybe it will hide some of the mistakes. Well the glitter I used was too thick and covered the whole design. haha So I decided to scrap the whole mani and try something else. That turned out to be a bad idea too.

This is also another one I was inspired to do, also from a post Kellie did on the Lacquer Lane page. I wanted to do some red nails with cheetah spots on them. I had never tried cheetah spots, so I thought it might be easy with the nail art pen also.... Nope, I didn't know what I was doing when I was putting the spots on, the gold glitter I was using was the wrong gold to be using because it was going on thick and getting everywhere. Then I kept getting the black from the nail art pen on the sides of my fingers and tried to wipe it and ended up just smudging it everywhere. lol It looks like a 5 year old did my nails. haha I used Red Red by Wet n Wild for the base and Gold Dust Woman for the gold glitter from My Stash Lacquer. Which btw, is an awesome polish on its own. So after a second nail fail, I decided to just stick with a solid color.

I decided that I was going to use a color I hadn't used yet, so I used Precious by LA Girl from the Pop Icon line. Its such a pretty color. I don't know if it had anything to do with taking off and putting on all that polish in a short period of time, or if its just a crappy formula, but it went on really streaky and then dried with a weird texture. I don't think its meant to be textured, but if it is, it didn't texture the entire nail, only patches. After this, I just gave up and left the pink on. haha I will probably try again tonight to see what I can come up with. 

I hate it when I have bad nail days. I also wish I was better at nail art. Doesn't help that I am shaky. lol Hope you guys enjoyed laughing at my fails! Have a great week! xoLeah
