Red Red & No Place Like Home

Hi there :)

I hope everyone that has been bombarded with all this snow is staying warm!! We got about a foot of snow yesterday! Ridiculous. >:O

Today I wanted to show you some pretties! It is no surprise how much I love Wet n' Wild. They are my favorite drugstore brand! I think I have just about every regular color they  have. I have most of the Fergie collection and really want to get ALL of their other collections. I'm working on it ;).

Red red is a very pretty pretty red! It has the Cosmogirl kiss of approval :D and its only .99 cents!! I never have any issues with staining either. Which is always a win win in my book :)

      I really like this red.

With Fergie - No Place Like Home - I feel like this could almost.. alllllmoooosttt be a dupe for China Glaze Ruby Slippers. Maybe sometime I will have to do a post comparing them!

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoy!

On His Saddle & Party Of Five

Hi there :)

Tonight I want to show you a really pretty color, "On His Saddle". At first, when I had tried this color on I was not sure if I was a fan, but as time went on I decided I actually really really liked it! As I looked at it I feel like it made my nails look longer than they are- which I really love!!

I added some glitter on top. I used Party of Five. Its a teal-ey/light blue glitter with diamond holographic chunks in it.

At first I liked it better with the glitter but I actually liked it better without the glitter after a while!

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoy!

Jamberry Nail Stickers

Hey guys!!

So I did these days like a month ago, but when I first e-mailed Jamberry Nails to find out if they were cruelty free and all that, they didn't respond. Normally when places don't respond, I usually just assume. I decided I should give it a second shot though because I loved these! They finally responded and told me that they are in fact cruelty free!!

Knowing about my love for all things nail related, a friend of mine from high school sent me a message on facebook telling me about a woman from a local yard sale group that was giving away old samples of Jamberry Nails. I decided to check them out, I mean why not? Who doesn't love free samples?

Finally got my sample and decided to try them right away. They came on a small sheet with only 4 strips, so I didn't know how I was going to make this work as a full manicure. I had forgotten to take a pic before I started, so I took one with the section I had left.

As you can tell, I used both sides of the strips to make them work on both hands. As for my final nail that I didn't have a sticker for, I could have probably used some of the excess sticker, but I decided to do a matching nail polish.

I didn't really know how to put them on, so I checked out the facebook page of the woman who sent me the sample, Tanya. She had shared a video she found on youtube of a fellow Jamberry Nails consultant demonstrating how to properly put them on. I am not going to lie though, I did try to cut corners and thought it would work better, it didn't. I wish I would have done them exactly how the tutorial mentioned. They still turned out decently, I loved them, they just were jagged and kept getting hooked on stuff!

Alright, well I just tried to look for the nail color I used on my thumb and I cannot for the life of me find it. So I gave up, but I am pretty sure its Sinful Colors. The glitter on top of it is Sephora by OPI: Flurry Up.

These nails were really fun and they looked super cute! They're a perfect idea for moms too. I loved that I could do them even with my kids running around. They were asking me for stuff while I was doing them and I was able to stop what I was doing and get them whatever they needed without having to wait for nails to dry! They stayed on for a really long time, so long that I was getting sick of them and peeled them off cuz I wanted to paint my nails again. I think I picked them off at the 2 week mark or somewhere close to it. I also believe there was a video on how to remove them, but I am a picker, so they got picked off. lol

Here you can go to Tanya's website and order some stickers or you can just go to Jamberry Nails and find a consultant in your area and get your own samples and have a party!! Omg I forgot to mention, this is a home party type of thing. I know Sallys, Sephora, etc have these nails stickers, but I think these would be much funner to do with your friends and stuff at a home party!! I haven't had one yet, but now that I know they're cruelty free, I am totally down!

I apologize for the sloppiness! Ok, well I think I pretty much covered everything I wanted to tell you guys about it. I hope that you enjoyed my post!!!                        xoxo Leah

P.S. Here is a link to the tutorial video on how to apply the nails. I checked Tanya's facebook page and the video she posted is no longer available.

Also, here is a link to Tanya's facebook page!

Patricia Ann

Ok, so first of all I am going to start off by letting you guys know, 3/4 polishes used in this post are NOT cruelty free brands. The ONLY reason I am using them in this post is because I told you guys I was going to do a post about my grandma, using her polishes, and most of her polishes aren't cruelty free.

You may have noticed the title of this post is Patricia Ann. That is my grandma's name. For those of you who may have just started following us or just haven't read yet, my grandma passed away February 3rd of this year. She was my rock, as well as a giant support for my whole family. Even though she was going to be 71 this year, her death came as somewhat of a surprise. About 3 years ago, she had found out that she had a mass in one of her kidneys. After the doctors putting her surgery off for about a year (which really pissed off a ton of people in my family, including me) they finally got her in and removed her kidney. Upon its removal, they ran tests and discovered that it was cancerous. My grandma was a stubborn lady, and believed she was going to live forever, didn't want anyone worrying about her, etc. So they thought they had gotten all of the cancer, and that was enough for her. She refused chemotherapy as a precaution to make sure they had gotten everything because she didn't want people fussing over her, plus she was self conscious and didn't want to lose her hair and what not. She had always told us, if she ever found out she had cancer or any kind of major disease, condition, etc that she wouldn't tell anyone because of her not wanting anyone to worry.

About a week before she passed away, my family had started to notice major changes in her behavior. There had already been some minor things, but they were things we sort of passed off by saying it was because she was getting older. Some of my family had tried to get her to go to the hospital to get checked out when it started getting bad, but being her stubborn, she wouldn't go. Even when they had an ambulance sent to her house.

A few days after they tried getting her help, she collapsed. My grandpa called 911 and they came and took her to the hospital. After getting to the hospital they had done tests and determined that when they did her surgery to remove her tumor, they hadn't gotten all her cancer. It was now throughout her body, in her bloodstream, chest, and brain. They kept her in the hospital for a few days, then sent her home with hospice care.

Her last few days spent at home, she was surrounded by family. Everyone important was there. We had 3 family members come in from out of state, and some from out of town. Her last moments were spent literally surrounded by her loved ones. Her sister laying next to her, holding her hand, me and my grandfather on her other side holding her hand. People at her feet, and anywhere else they could reach in and caress her arms and legs and comfort her. The sound still haunts me when she took her final breath and everyone lost control of their emotions and began to sob. I myself was crying so hard, I couldn't catch my breath. Grammy meant so much to so many people, it was so hard to see her go, even though she had went pretty fast and somewhat peacefully.

I really really wanted to not make this sad and depressing... So I will just make sure to include some stories about Grammy, that aren't so sad.

When I was little, my cousin Kelly and I were very close. Since grandma raised Kelly, she lived with her, meaning I was over there all the time. We are the two oldest grandkids of hers, and as the younger kids got older, they always wanted to stay the night with grandma like I always did, but they would usually end up going home before they went to sleep because of whatever reason. Kelly and I were practically inseparable. We would sit at the counter with Grammy, she had her own special chair and special spot that she sat at, and we would color with her, design our own fashion lines, play with play dough, make stuff, all kinds of fun stuff. We always played the most random things with her too. One time we decided we wanted to play communion. Who plays that? lol Anyways, we went to a lutheran school so we had some hymn books to sing from and we had oyster crackers and juice and we sang for Grammy and they served her the communion items. We could take something as boring as that and make it fun with her.

When it came time for Kelly and I to go to bed, we usually never did right away. We would lay there and talk, and usually ended up laughing about stuff and Grammy would come tell us that we needed to quiet down and go to sleep. Usually that never worked, we would end up getting up and asking Grammy to take us to Taco Bell or Meijer (department store like Walmart open 24 hours). I don't think there were very many times that she would tell us no. We would get to Meijer and she would tell us not to ask for anything, that we were just there to walk around and look at stuff, but we always came back with stuff. Kelly usually had a cart full of clothes, and I always had an arm full of nail polish. Kelly of course usually couldn't usually get all the stuff that she wanted, but I usually got all the polishes that I picked out because they were all usually Wet n Wild, so they were inexpensive.

One of the things that almost everyone in my family will tell you is how much she loved her family and would show us. She would randomly text or call you just to tell you that she loved you and was thinking about you. She always tried to make every situation, her situation, so she could help you solve it. She was probably the most caring person I ever met.

I really could go on and on about stories with my grandma, but this is already pretty long and I am doing really good so far at not crying, so I don't want to make myself cry. The last few days its really been sinking in. Also not to mention I haven't even talked about the nails I am doing for this post.

Here are the colors I used starting from the left: Cover Girl Boundless Color - Disco Dazzle, Sinful Colors - Sharon's Heart, Mary Kay - Pink Sand, Avon - Nail Experts UV Gloss Guard Top Coat.

I know Valentines Day is over, but I thought since 98% of her polishes are Valentines colors and I didn't get to do my Valentines post that I would just make this a sort of Valentines themed manicure. Here is just with the Sinful Colors on.

I keep seeing people using doting tools for looks and I really want a dotting tool, so instead I found a quick way to do it without having a dotting tool. Stuck a pin into a pencil eraser! Worked pretty good. Only problem I had was that I used a color that needed multiple coats to show up well, so my dots got a little sloppy. I also did some little hearts!

Its hard to tell, but I also did the Cover Girl glitter on my accent nail, but I used a different camera so it didn't show up as good as if I would have used my good camera.

I think they're cute, I am happy with the end result.

Sorry if I made you feel sad or feel bad for me, that truly wasn't my intentions. I just wanted to share about the situation with my grandma because I had shared what was happening with her on our facebook page as it was happening. I also would like to thank everyone so much for all the love and prayers and thoughts that everyone was sending our way as we were dealing with this terrible loss. It means so much to me that strangers would care so much. We truly do have some of the best reads anyone could ask for and we appreciate you guys so much! I hope that you guys enjoyed my fun stories about my Grammy and my nails!

Happy Valentines Day!

Hi there :)

I know I told you all already how much I LOVE Valentines Day! :D I am so sad that I have to work tomorrow! My Husband and I for the last few years have stayed home and made heart shaped raviolis and watched scary movies. We might still watch scary movies when I get home but we won't have time to make the raviolis...  There's always next year! Do you and your honey have Valentines Day traditions?

I was so excited for all the super amazing Valentines Day mani's I was going to do, then drew a blank and life happened and I never really got around to them. I finally have today off and wanted to do at least ONE V-Day mani!

I chose a pretty pale pink from Pure Ice called Love. How perfect! I really do love this color but I don't think it is a stand alone color for my skin.

I used Pure Ice - Wet T- Shirt to do a tip on all my nails except my accent nail which I used Pure Ice - Come Closer. I was really pleased with how well the colors went with each other. I also did a small heart on my ring finger with Wet T- Shirt.

Thank you all for reading ! I hope you enjoy. Happy Valentines Day!

Rebel

Hi there :)

How is everyone doing?

I’m sorry for the lack of postage. I wanted to take time away from the blog to be with Leah any way that I could. Unfortunately, Leah and I live about 400 miles away from each other so there was not much that I could do to be with her, besides in spirit, because I couldn’t get to her. We had talked and I told her that I wanted take time away from the blog with her to show respect to her and her family.. Thank you all for understanding and sending your wonderful thoughts her way. You guys really rock <3

I wanted to share with you one of the goodies I got in my Julep Maven ‘It Girl’ box. Julep is not a brand that is new to me, but being a maven is! A long while ago ( last summer ) I had become a Julep Maven with the Penny box code. I did it for 2 months and had to cancel because I wasn’t working and money was super tight at the time I just couldn’t justify $20 a month on nail polish.  (now a days if I only spend 20$ a month on nail polish I consider my wallet lucky )  My Maven subscription is the only thing I really guarantee myself every month anymore until I find a better job. I really love Julep polishes, and getting a fun box in the mail every month. Are you a Julep maven? What is your style that you get? If you aren’t a Maven take the test here to find out what your style would be, and if you want to try it out you can enter- “Penny” or “FreeBox”  in the code section and only pay 1 penny and the shipping for the first month. In my honest opinion I think $20 for the box is an awesome deal. The box is definitely worth more – if you consider that regularly juleps sell for 14$ each unless you are a maven then you save 20% - and you get a lot of goodies in them!

So anyways the polish that I wanted to share with you is Rebel from the February ‘It Girl’ Maven box. It is a silver holographic polish. I couldn’t even wait to try it on! Seriously, I used it the very same day I got it!  It definitely needs at least 2 coats and a top coat, without the top coat it is kind of dull but once the top coat goes on it is blingin’ baby! ( Omg lolol I feel so old that I even just said that! ) I thought that I took a picture without a top coat but I guess I didn't :( Sorry.

I used the Freedom top coat that came in the Maven boxes; I was also super excited to try that! The box says it works like a gel polish. I haven’t tried any of the gel polishes yet... My dear friend Amanda got me the sensationail starter set for Christmas but I’m kind of afraid to try it because I don’t want to ruin it or waste it! So I was pretty excited to try this. I don’t think I cured it correctly but I did really like the way it held up. It is not fair to judge any polish by how long it lasts on my nails because I wear gloves for like 7 hours a day. By the time I get off work I am lucky if I have a speck of polish left, but this lasted. Not the entire polish and not on every nail but you could tell that I had polish on my nails at one point!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoy!

Karina Crackle

The past week has been crazy busy for me. As some of you know already, my grandma passed away. This is one of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with. My grandma was my rock and meant so much to me. I  will be doing a post next about my grandma and doing my nails with some of her polishes. She is the one who got me started with my nail polish addiction. She always had her nails painted and her lipstick on, even when she was in the hospital!

Did these nails before my grammy passed, but then I was dealing with all that so I didn't get time to post them till now. They were really fun to do. I had tried some crackle type polish before and it never turned out good. Decided to try some Sally Hansen Crackle: Ink Splatter and it was a good choice! Before when I had tried it, it would go on so thick that it wouldn't crack right and looked real bad. I wanted it to be an anti Valentines day type of manicure, so I used my new Zoya: Karina. This color was AMAZING!! I love red polish and this was probably one of my favorites!!

(This is the Crackle without the top coat)

Doing a crackle manicure is a really fun, easy manicure to do that looks like you spent time on your nails, but really takes no time at all. I would say its a good one for moms to have fancy nails on the go! It stayed on pretty long, even when I did dishes shortly after painting my nails. I used the China Glaze No Chip top coat and that helped too. I have noticed with that top coat before it didn't help so much, but it seems to work better with certain polishes. This being one of them. I have another Crackle thats a green glitter and I can't wait to try that to see how well that one works.

Thanks for reading, sorry it was sorta short, I can't really brain lately! lol

xoxoLeah
